I have found that I have a fondness for making business cards for myself. Two days ago I made 10 business cards (one format) out on my computer. I cut them at school and handed them out. It was nifty, I didn't have enough for all of those who may have wanted one but I've just printed out two sheets of different styled business cards (hence my new fondness for designing business cards) to hand out tomorrow. I'm not to easy about handing out little pieces of paper that have my phone number, address, and e-mails on there (once I get a site up for viewing I'll remove something...maybe the address, I dunno: For sure my address won't be on the site, if anybody who sees the site wants something they can e-mail me on the matter). But it's a cheerful character for now. I've sold at least one thing a day since I "started". I would like to get started on the t-shirts for those who want one and hopefully my markers will work (I'm using fabric markers). They're permanent, fade resistent, and they work on most fabric.
I am mainly "marketing" to those who care about originality. Those who don't like to be seen wearing the same thing as so-and-so ya know? That always bothered me. And I don't charge much either. :)
I spoke to my boss today about my job and school and we agreed that I may take a leave of absence effective March 12th and I shall return if I wish on June 1st due to my 4th quarter roundabout of fun (also known as research papers, finals, and an AP test). I will be working for a few more weeks and then I'll take that time off to work on my school work. For now since they've hired a guy to work with the school-age kids I will be a floater. Today I officially learned how to change a diaper. It wasn't easy... I was with the toddlers and sometimes (or all the time) they are all over the place. There's one girl who can open the gate in the room and she will run out of the room as soon as she does. She must enjoy the chase but I get a bit scared that she'll run outside.
Parent-teacher confrences were tonight. I went with my mom. It really is a self-esteem boost to go and see what my teachers have to say about me. It's a bit on the awkward side but it's nice to know that sort of stuff sometimes. I've got A's and B's currently. :)
For now...I must memorize a sonnet, I shall type it out for you...:
Dear Friends by Edwin Arlington Robinson
Dear friends, reproach me not for what I do,
nor consel, nor pity, nor say
that I am wearing half my life away
for bubble-work that only fools persue
and if my bubbles be too small for you
blow bigger then your own: the games we play
to fill the frittered minutes of a day
good glasses are to read the spirit through
and whoso reads may get him some shrewd skill;
and some improfitable scorn resign,
to prais the very thing that he deplores.
So, friends (dear friends), remember, if you will,
The shame I win for singing is all mine,
The gold I miss for dreaming is all yours.
